EICRs in Portsmouth & Southsea
If you’re booking an EICR, you want to know what will be checked, how much it will cost and what happens afterwards. We inspect and test the fixed installation, give you the report and explain anything that needs attention.
The work
For homeowners, landlords and letting agents
An Electrical Installation Condition Report records the condition of the fixed wiring and electrical equipment covered by the inspection. It helps identify damage, deterioration and defects that could affect safety. It isn’t a certificate for new installation work, and it doesn’t cover every appliance plugged into a socket.
What we can help with
- Inspection and testing of the agreed fixed installation
- A written EICR recording the findings, extent and any limitations
- An explanation of the outcome and any recommended action
- A separate discussion and quotation for remedial work where needed
Booking your electrical inspection
- 01
Tell us about the property
Send the postcode, property type, approximate size and any previous report. Let us know whether it’s occupied and who will arrange access.
- 02
Agree the visit
We’ll confirm the scope and cost, explain access requirements and plan for the power to be switched off during parts of the testing.
- 03
Understand the results
You’ll receive the report and an explanation of any observations. If repairs or further investigation are needed, we’ll discuss the next steps.
Before you book
Is an EICR the same as PAT testing?
No. An EICR concerns the fixed electrical installation. PAT testing concerns electrical appliances and equipment. Tell us what you need checked so we can agree the right scope.
Will the power need to be switched off?
Yes, parts of the inspection and testing require circuits to be isolated. We’ll explain this when arranging the visit so you can plan around it.
What if the report is unsatisfactory?
We’ll explain the observations and the work or investigation needed. Any remedial work is discussed separately, so you know what’s proposed and what it costs.
How much does an EICR cost?
It depends on the property, number of circuits, access and agreed scope. Send us the details and we’ll quote before booking the work.
